Mercedes is introducing a car with a new steering wheel

08 March, KATHMANDU: Mercedes is reportedly preparing a new design for its iconic model, and the most notable of them is a new steering wheel. The new steering wheel is said to hint at futurism and the new technologies that will come with this vehicle.

The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz EQS luxury electric limousine has undergone significant technical changes, the Telegraph reports.

The vehicle’s most notable feature is the new “steer-by-wire” steering system, which eliminates the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels.

Instead, an electronic system will transmit steering commands without using traditional mechanical parts. This move will make the steering wheel easier to use and reduce vibrations from the road.

The new steering wheel’s special shape, called the “yoke,” now features a flatter structure and different grip areas compared to traditional steering wheels.

For this, the need to develop a special air cushion to adapt to this new shape has been mentioned.

Mercedes claims that the new design will make it easier to enter and exit the vehicle and improve the driver’s forward view without obstructing the digital instrument cluster.

In addition to the steering wheel, changes included in the infotainment system on the interior include updated graphics and adjustments to the display configuration.

Mercedes hopes these innovations will attract more customers by combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.
