PicsArt launches new earning program for creators as AI design platform

08 March, KATHMANDU: PixArt has launched a new monetization program for creators as an AI design platform. The program is open to all creators and does not require an invitation list or minimum viewership.

Under the program, creators will be able to use PicsArt’s tools to create original content for a specific campaign, share it on their social networks, and earn revenue based on audience engagement. According to the company, the program is designed to prioritize creativity and performance over scale or follower count.

According to TechCrunch, PixArt is evolving into a platform that can monetize its creative tools by launching a creator monetization program. The company sees the move as a way to attract new creators and retain them.

Once registered for the program, creators gain access to a dashboard that lists all the prompts and creative challenges they can participate in. For example, a campaign might ask them to create beautiful creatures using PicsArt Aura, the platform’s AI conversational assistant that can create and animate images and videos using text or voice.

According to PicsArt, simply creating and posting images with AI is not enough; without creative effort, there is no meaningful participation or income.

Once the content is ready, creators must fill out a short form, provide the URL of the content posted on social media, tag it according to the campaign’s criteria, and add a short description of how it was created within PicsArt. The content is shared directly to the creator’s own Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X accounts.

Earnings are calculated based on views, comments, shares, and reach. Creators can track their earnings from their dashboard and withdraw funds via Stripe.

“We’ve always believed that creativity should be for everyone — now rewards should be for everyone,” the company’s founder and CEO Hovhannes Aboyan said in a statement. “There’s a structural problem in the creator economy, where platforms haven’t been fairly rewarding ordinary creators. Earn with PicsArt is a commitment to the millions of people who make up our community. It’s open, structured, and simple — create content, earn when it performs well.”

According to the company, earning opportunities are available for all types of creators who create tutorials, aesthetic edits, or short videos.

Founded in 2011, PicsArt has over 130 million users worldwide. In 2021, the company became a unicorn with the rise of the creator economy.

The expansion towards creator monetization comes after the company announced a few weeks ago that it would launch an AI Agent Marketplace, where creators will be able to “hire” AI assistants for various tasks, such as resizing social content, remixing, or editing product images on Shopify.
